On March 14th, Leandro Basser held a capital market day event on the New York Stock Exchange and released a new long-term strategy for the company. Leandro Basser announced that it hopes to accelerate growth, expand profit margins, and improve return on capital through its technical leadership and sustainable solutions.

It is reported that LyondellBasell's new strategy focuses on enhancing sustainable value and includes three key elements: developing and upgrading core businesses, focusing growth on the company's leading businesses; Establish a profitable circular and low carbon solution business (CLCS). It is expected that by 2030, the incremental earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortization of the CLCS business will grow to at least $1 billion, and significant returns will be achieved through the company's existing size, market access, and technical leadership; Strengthen performance and culture, and shift from single cost control to customer focus to drive performance improvement.

While announcing its new strategy, LyondellBasell began taking action around its new strategy in 2022, including exiting its refining business and divesting its Australian polypropylene business.
